Volunteers In Providence Schools 44th Volunteer Recognition Event
VIPS held its 44th Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at the Rhode Island Convention Center on Thursday, June 5, 2008. More than 275 people attended the noon-time event that raised $43,000 for VIPS' important tutoring/mentoring programs for Providence public school students.
Recipients of the Lifelong Learning Award were former Rhode Island School of Design president Roger Mandle and past president of Rhode Island College John Nazarian. Pearl Nathan, retired educator and community volunteer, received the Knowledge is Power Award.
